Mousseau Lab accomplishments

The Mousseau lab had several success throughout the year, from grants, to posters to publications.  Below is a brief list of this years successes:

Dr. Darrell D. Mousseau is co-applicant on a grant from the NCE ‘Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet)’ (PI: Chris Phenix, Chemistry, University of Saskatchewan) focusing on: Evaluation of PET Radiotracers for Imaging Glucocerebrosidase in Parkinson's Disease. (December, 2018)

Dr Quartey (Cell Signalling Laboratory) in collaboration with the Phenix Research group (Chemistry) presented a poster titled: Towards new tools to study β-Glucocerebrosidase in Parkinson’s Disease (Banff, AB; May 7-11, 2018).

Drs Jennifer Nyarko and Maa Quartey (Cell Signalling Laboratory) in  collaboration with the Baker Research group in Psychiatry (University of Alberta) published a review in the ‘Canadian Journal of Psychiatry’ titled: Can Animal Models Inform on the Relationship between Depression and Alzheimer Disease? (January 1, 2018)

Drs Jennifer Nyarko and Maa Quartey (Cell Signalling Laboratory) in collaboration with the Baker Research group in Psychiatry (University of Alberta) and the Poirier group in Psychiatry (McGill University) published a research article in ‘Neuroscience’ titled: Profiles of β-Amyloid Peptides and Key Secretases in Brain Autopsy Samples Differ with Sex and APOE ε4 Status: Impact for Risk and Progression of Alzheimer Disease. (March 1, 2018)

Drs Maa Quartey and Jennifer Nyarko (Cell Signalling Laboratory) in collaboration with the Baker Research group in Psychiatry (University of Alberta) published a research article in ‘Frontiers in Neuroscience’ titled: Alzheimer disease and selected risk factors disrupt a co-regulation of monoamine oxidase-A/B in the hippocampus, but not in the cortex. (May 31, 2018)

Drs Jennifer Nyarko and Maa Quartey (Cell Signalling Laboratory) in collaboration with the Baker Research group in Psychiatry (University of Alberta) and the Freywald group in Pathology (University of Saskatchewan) have re-submitted a revised manuscript to ‘Frontiers in Neuroscience’ titled: Glycosylation states of pre- and post-synaptic markers of 5-HT neurons differ with sex and 5-HTTLPR genotype in cortical autopsy samples. (May 28, 2018)

Dr. Darrell D. Mousseau (Cell Signalling Laboratory) contributed to a research article in ‘Oncogene’ (senior author: Andrew Freywald, Pathology, University of Saskatchewan) titled: EPHB6 augments both development and drug sensitivity of triple-negative breast cancer tumours. (April 27, 2018)

Dr. Darrell D. Mousseau (Cell Signalling Laboratory) contributed to a commentary article in ‘Paediatrics & Child Health’ (first author: Richard Huntsman, Neurology, University of Saskatchewan) titled: Cannabis for the treatment of paediatric epilepsy? An update for Canadian paediatricians. (April 05, 2018)
