SHRF recently announced the latest recipients of the Collaborative Innovation Development Grants (2019-2020), and the Neuroscience Research Cluster at the University of Saskatchewan was well represented.
Dr. Francisco Cayabyab (Principal Applicant, Department of Surgery) was awarded $50,000 for the project “Low Frequency Magnetic Stimulation (LFMS): Non-Invasive and Low Cost Option for Treating Post-Stroke Depression”. The team includes Dr. Yanbo Zhang (Co-Applicant, Department of Psychiatry) and Dr. Mohan Babu (Co-Applicant, Associate Member of Neuroscience Cluster, Department of Biochemistry, University of Regina).
Another team led by Dr. Mohan Babu (Principal Applicant, Department of Biochemistry, University of Regina) received $50,000 for the project “Understanding the Role of a Mitochondrial Orphan Gene in a Rare Metabolic Disorder”. Dr. Francisco Cayabyab (Co-Applicant) and Dr. Scott Widenmaier (Co-Applicant, Cardiopulmonary Research Cluster) are members of this research project.
