New Cayabyab Lab Publication

New Cayabyab lab publication in Molecular Neurobiology describes novel mechanisms in delayed neuronal death in stroke-like conditions. A clinically relevant drug called Perampanel (used for treatment-resistant epilepsy) proved to be neuroprotective, prompting subsequent in vivo drug efficacy studies with promising results in animal stroke model. This study provides greater rationale for further drug development targeting the adenosinergic and glutamatergic signaling for future neuroprotective therapy for stroke patients.
